Breeding is an important part to being successful within the game. It allows you to get horses with better stats and appearances, which will make you both a better racer and more fashionable within the game.
Appearance[]
Currently in the game, there are currently 21 coat colors, 8 mane styles and 6 tail styles. Getting the horse you want can take some work! Especially because the breeding system likes to give you exactly what you don't want. However, there are some things you can do to get a better horse.
Luck[]
Before explaining what everything means in the breeding room, you first need to know about your horse's luck. Your horse's Luck is displayed as a little clover next to the horse's head on your Ranch. It has 4 leaves.
0 Leaves = Terrible
1 Leaf = Bad
2 Leaves = Okay
3 Leaves = Good
4 Leaves = Amazing
You can get more leaves by either racing with your horse online, or caring for it at your ranch. Another way to do this is to upgrade your ranch management skill, "Beauty Guru." This will increase your horses luck when you clean it.
Lineage[]
It takes a bit of searching to find the right horse to breed with. On the far left of the little menu will be the horse's names. On the right of that, you'll find the lineage.
The horse's lineage can go up to +9. It stands for how many horses in its recent line had the same coat color.
Each parent with the same coat will give the horse +2 lineage. A grandparent with the same coat gives +1. A horse always starts with +1 for having the coat. This means that if both parents and all 4 grandparents have the same coat as the horse, it will be a +9.
You can find your horse's ancestry and check the family tree by going to your horse's profile and clicking the Ancestry tab. It will show through all four of the horses grandparents.
The higher the lineage number is, the higher the chance of getting that coat when you breed it with another horse. However, the system is a far cry from perfect, and more often than not you will be disappointed.
To view the Ancestry of a horse in the breeding list, simply right click their names and it will show up. This is crucial to do before breeding with a horse, as more often than not the ancestry is not what you desire.
Genetics[]
Genetics uses arrows to represent how high the chance is that the foal will look like the father (the father is always the horse you select from the list). There are 5 different arrows.

Fee[]
The fee is the number of carrots you pay for breeding once. The max fee is 40,000 carrots, while the lowest is 4,000. The fee is always in between these prices and depends on the price set by the horses owner. To register a horse for breeding, you will always pay half of the fee you put it up for; if you want to register your horse for 10,000 carrots, you will have to pay 5,000 beforehand.
Pregnancy Chance[]
Each horse has a Pregnancy Chance. This stands for the chance you have of actually getting a foal. The more hearts, the higher the chance for a foal. Every time a horse breeds, its Pregnancy Chance decreases a little.
A failed breeding attempt.
A horse starts with a max number of 3.5 hearts. This means the horse has either been registered for the first time, or not bred with often. Both of these give you a higher chance of getting a foal from the horse you chose.
If the breeding fails and you don't get a foal, you'll get a compensation prize. A compensation prize can reward you with a variety of things; Treatments for injuries, Carrots, Crystals, and sometimes even Gems. The card you are presented with will be either red or gold. Red is the most common color to reveal itself.
If you receive a golden card your game will tell you, "Congratulations! You have a rare opportunity to select a compensation prize from the Golden Cards! Golden Cards contain great prizes! There is even a chance to win Gems!" These Golden Cards are certainly preferable to the normal red ones, and give you something that is closer in proximity to the amount of Carrots you just spent trying to get a horse.
Favorite[]
If you want to look through multiple horses before picking the right one, you can click the favorite button. This will permanently save the selected horses under the Favorites tab until you remove them. Even when they run out of time, they will stay! So if their owner decides to register them again afterward, you will be one of the first to know.
When a horse has run out of time and is not registered anymore, it will vanish from your feed. However, if the owner chooses to register the horse again, it will reappear on your list.
To delete horses off your Favorites list, simply click the little box on the left of their name to select it, and click the Remove button in the right top corner of the menu. If you want to select all the horses in your tab, press Check all.
You can also remove them from the list by clicking the Remove button in the Breeding List. The button you click to add them to your Favorites will turn into Remove once you do, allowing you to clear your list that way.
You can only have up to 8 horses in your Favorites list. If you try to add more, the game will notify you that your list is full, and won't add the selected horse to it. Thankfully, your favorites list is quite difficult to fill with horses you actually like.
Registering your horse[]
Basics[]
To register your horse, click on the Register button at the bottom of the list, "Your Horses."
Next, it will give you the option of how many Carrots you want to register your horse for (The minimum and maximum are shown in the panel, you will not be allowed to register a horse outside of the given parameters).
A horse has to be a grade 4 minimum in order to register it. Likewise, you cannot register a horse that is grade 9 or higher.
Once your horse is registered you cannot ride it or take care of it. Make sure your horse is clean and fed first! By pressing the unregister button, you can see the number of times it has been bred with, how much you've earned, and how long it will still be on the Breeding List. If you want to keep it on the Breeding List, you can simply press Cancel to leave the Unregister screen.
When time runs out, you will be mailed the final amount of Carrots you've received. When receiving your Carrots, you will have taxes attached. This means that there will be a decrease in your total amount. It will show you the percentage of taxes you had to pay. The tax percentage depends on how many times your horse was bred with, increasing based on the number of times your horse was bred with.
After this, you can still put your horse up for breeding! If you think you can earn some more, or want to empty the hearts, you can just hop back into the Breeding menu and register your horse again. However, keep an eye on those hearts! Players, no matter the lineage, know better than to spend carrots on horses with little to no potential of a foal.
Tips and Tricks[]
There are some quick tips and tricks you can use in order to get every last Carrot from a horse you register for breeding.
- Surprisingly, it is easiest to first get the coat you would like to breed from with a basic horse from the shop. It is recommended to start with the Chestnut starter horse, although you will have to max it to grade four before you can breed with it. Then, follow the steps above to find the right horse with the right coat.
- If you want to register a horse one last time, but it has very few hearts left on it, there is a way that works once to gain back a quarter to half heart; feed your horse until it is full, and clean it so that every part sparkles (as in clean the mane, body, and tail 10 times each). This will only work ONE TIME, and not the first time you want to register, as the max possibility hearts is 3.5.
- If you raise a horses beauty to the second bar, it has a 20% increase in the likelihood of getting a foal the first time you breed with it.
Advice[]
Here is some quick advice on what players are more likely to breed with, and therefore lets you determine what to register your horse for.[]
- Players like 3 star coats! Blacks, Dapple Bays, Whites, and Amber Creams are the most popular among them. If your horse has full hearts, this automatically means you should register the horse (assuming its grade 8) for at least 15k.
- Long manes and tails, especially curly ones, are highly desirable. If you have a horse with either a long mane or tail, this adds more value. If you have a full long curly on a 3 star coat, register it for at least 30k. Most people will utterly discard stats in their excitement to try and get a full long curly on a 3 star themselves.
- Make sure your horse has 179 in stat totals before you register it, as this is the max number of stats before a horse enters grade 9.
- Horses with 90+ in one stat category are more likely to be bred with, regardless of the other stats, simply due to the fact that most players try to breed for one or two specific stats in a horse.
- If your horse has a potential, mention that in its name. Potentials won't show in the overview of a horse, but they make a horse much more valuable, especially if the potential is "Gifted Runner".
